It’s official, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has passed the 2 million concurrent player mark

While it won't win Game of the Year, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds may end up being one of, if not the most significant games to come out of 2017 when we look back on it five to ten years from now. Say what you will about Early Access and its hit or miss optimization (both valid points), but people just won't stop buying and playing this game.

Period.

According to Steam's stats page, PUBG has officially broken the 2 million concurrent player mark, just two days after it was reported that the game was within 15,000 players of the feat. To put it in a broader perspective, PUBG broke the 1 million player mark for the first time just over a month ago, and it wasn't long after that that the game surpassed DotA 2's all-time mark of 1.3 million.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a historic game and a rarity in today's gaming calendar that, while flooded with games, quickly sees them swept under the rug as quickly as they are hyped up. PUBG is here to stay, and you'll be hearing about it for years to come.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available now on Steam Early Access and will launch on Xbox One in Q4 2017.
