Whenever Microsoft finally gets around to getting OG Xbox games on Backwards Compatibility, we'll officially be able to go full old school, courtesy of original Xbox co-founder, Seamus Blackley, and Hyperkin a game peripheral manufacturer. Back in October of 2016, Blackley tweeted out a proposal to Phil Spencer regarding the possibility of producing a new generation of "The Duke" controller for Xbox One.
After working and iterating on the design, Blackley has confirmed via Twitter that "The Duke" will make a return.

The Duke launched with the original Xbox with a rather awkward design. It was quite large by conventional standards (although so too was the OG Xbox), and came with six face buttons, the A, B, Y, X we know today plus the Black and White buttons that never made it to the Xbox 360. In Halo, the White Button was used to activate Master Chief's headlights, but as a whole, the buttons didn't end up serving much more.
There's currently no timeframe on when we can expect the new line of Duke controllers, although Blackley did say that we can expect a few modern improvements.
