My life is complete. The voice of Darth Vader is returning to the silver screen. I don't care if the rest of the movie is terrible, at least it'll have the real Darth Vader. OK, maybe that's a bit extreme. That said, Entertainment Weekly is currently running a Rogue One exclusive, and after yesterday's confirmation that the Dark Lord of the Sith would be appearing in the movie, we have learned today that 85-year-old James Earl Jones, will be returning to voice Darth Vader.
Jones has most recently been voicing Vader on Disney XD's Star Wars: Rebels, so it's a logical choice as well. There have been plenty of voice actors who have tried their hand at Darth Vader, and while some have gotten pretty close (like Matt Sloan in The Force Unleashed), you just know it's not the same.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has said that Vader will appear sparingly, but "at a key, strategic moment, he’s going to loom large."
We will see what that moment is when Rogue One: A Star Wars Story releases in theaters on December 16th, 2016.
