Japanese Wii U Virtual Console getting Earthbound, North America not so much

Aww, come on! Really?! Well, it's happening again! Japan is getting something cool while the North American market remains bewildered and desperate. Yep, I'm talking about Earthbound.

Nintendo revealed that the Wii U would finally get its own version of the Virtual Console this spring. To kick things off, select titles will be on sale for one month. While the North American Virtual Console will get games such as F-Zero and Punch-Out!!, Japan will receive Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo and Earthbound (known in Japan as Mother 2).

Don't get me wrong, F-Zero and Punch-Out!! are phenomenal games, but what the heck?! Where's Earthbound, Nintendo? That's, like, one of the greatest RPGs of all time!

I sincerely hope that it's only a matter of time before this beloved cult classic becomes playable again on a Nintendo console in North America.
