John Cena is currently in talks with the producers behind the Duke Nukem movie. We’ve heard rumblings of a Duke Nukem movie, but this is the first big thing since its initial reveal.
The project is to be set up at Paramount’s Platinum Dunes, which is operated by the likes of Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller. No director or writer has been announced yet. Platinum Dunes has also hosted movies such as The Purge, Ouija, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Producer John Krasinski has a horror movie set to release on April 6.
Cena was made famous through his time as a WWE wrestler but for the last decade, he has since starred in a number of movies such as The Marine, 12 Rounds, Legendary and Trainwreck. He will also be starring in Paramount’s upcoming Transformers prequel Bumblebee: The Movie, directed by Michael Bay.
While Bay has had some flops in the past, if the eventual director of Duke Nukem works similar in style, while keeping their tongue firmly in their cheek, it could work very well with a Duke Nukem film. The important part would be to not take itself seriously. Who could you see directing a Duke Nukem film?
