Want to feel really uncomfortable for the next two minutes? Go ahead and watch the trailer for Black Mass, starring Johnny Depp.
Better yet, if you're planning on having a dinner party, go ahead and invite him — or rather, his character James "Whitey" Bulger. Just don't give up the secret to your family's secret steak marinade.
So as you can guess, Warner Bros. released a trailer for Black Mass, an upcoming movie that tells the story of Irish mobster James "Whitey" Bulger. Admittedly, I'm not too familiar with the shenanigans that went on in the '70s, but thankfully we've got an official description of the movie's plot, which is actually based on a true story.
In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James “Whitey” Bulger (Johnny Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the true story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history.
Of course. Only in the '70s could something so ridiculous happen.
