Johnny Manziel is not the best rookie quarterback in Madden NFL 15. So who is?

Johnny Manziel, aka “Johnny Football,” has been a major talking point in what has otherwise been a rather boring offseason. Predicted by many to be the top quarterback chosen in the draft, it was somewhat shocking to see him fall so deep into the first round. He was eventually drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the 22nd pick in the first round, behind former UCF quarterback Blake Bortles, who was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the number 3 overall pick.

So when speaking to Electronic Arts about the upcoming game, naturally we had to have them compare the rookie class of quarterbacks. And the highest rated QB is…?

Blake Bortles.

I know, I was pretty surprised too. I guess EA gave Bortles some home town loving.

"It depends on what rating you're talking about,” said creative director Rex Dickson. Without revealing specific numbers, Dickson revealed that good ol' BB is the "highest rated rookie quarterback."

“I have played a few games with Johnny. He's a lot of fun to use right now,” he added, “but there's some new tools on defense to stop scrambling quarterbacks who rollout of the pocket so people are using that against me. But I've actually played a couple games with Johnny, he's a lot of fun to use.

"Teddy Bridgewater also kind of fun to use. And Bortles, if you can get the ball off quickly, is also a lot of fun to use, but right now he's taking a lot of sacks.”

For you defensive lovers, Dickson said that defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who was drafted with the number one overall pick is “putting up his numbers in alpha as well.” I don’t know how EA could possibly know what his NFL numbers will play, as he hasn’t even played a snap, but I’m sure they know what they’re doing. After all, Madden rating czar Donny Moore never gets a rating wrong, right?
