Just Cause 3 Gets Multiplayer Mod Next Week

Remember Just Cause 2's extensive multiplayer mod? It kept the game alive longer than the campaign did. The modding fan group Nanos GBR is bringing a similar mod to Just Cause 3, and it's coming next week.

According to the mod's Steam page, it includes, "hilarious brawls, stunts, and races" with "hundreds of other players." This includes races, deathmatch, skydiving, freeroam and more. The mod was already available as an open beta, but its full launch will release on July 20.

On an ironic note, there was another multiplayer mod being worked on that was abruptly abandoned by its creator. The reason for quitting the mod was because the modder, Cameron Foote, was offered a job at Avalanche Studios, the developer of Just Cause 3.

"Several months ago, I was approached with an offer I couldn't refuse: to join Avalanche Studios Sweden as a developer so that I could work on projects present and future." He states in a reflection to his mod. "Unfortunately, due to time constraints, neither I or the rest of the team can actively pursue development on JC3-MP; our lives are just too busy to allow for it right now."

Foote was actually a part of the team that made the original multiplayer mod for Just Cause 2. Nano's new mod is currently PC only, although Avalanche Studios is open to the idea of console mods.
