Just Cause 3 to get much needed performance patch on PC and consoles

Man, Just Cause 3 was such a conflicting game for me. I loved nearly everything about it. Hell, it managed to one up its predecessor in almost every way, which, when you think about it, is no small feat. However, despite its masterful chaos mechanics, there was a game riddled with performance issues that can completely ruin any sort of fun you're having.

Luckily, Avalanche Studios was aware of the issues, and addressed them just after the game's release. Today, they bring even better news that the game will get a patch soon on both PC and consoles to hopefully fix some of those issues.

According to the Avalanche blog, these are the main issues being addressed in the patch.

  • Significantly improved loading times
  • Optimizations to online stats
  • General stability fixes
  • Fixed an issue related to challenges, wherein vehicles sometimes disappeared when starting a challenge
  • Fixed issues related to screen resizing and closing the game window before the game has fully started up [PC ONLY]

Aside from these technical issues, Avalanche also addressed some player concerns, such as enabling the ability to skip cutscenes and giving players a hint to open up their map when searching for the last Chaos object.

The two other concerns they tackled were quite funny. Apparently players were confused about the lack of a sprint button and the ability to crouch, neither which were design oversights. The lack of sprint is deliberate as it encourages players to use Rico's grapple, parachute and wingsuit to travel long distances. Likewise, the crouch button doesn't exist since the game encourages you to take to the skies to get tactical advantage on your enemies.

Now if only they could remove those nonsensical Fast Travel tokens…
