Kentucky Route Zero finally finished and comes to consoles

Indie developer Cardboard Computer has announced that the final act of their lauded adventure title Kentucky Route Zero is finally inbound after years of silence. Furthermore, KR0 will come out for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch together with the final act, later this month on January 28th. Check out the announcement trailer below!

It has been a long road for Kentucky Route Zero. Originally launched way back in 2013 on Steam, it took the moody adventure game an entire console generation to finally be feature-complete. It’s even likely that some readers don’t even remember the game anymore, and we wouldn’t hold it against you. As one of the earlier indie titles to adopt an episodic release, KR0 became an exercise in patience to the dismay of its players.

An antique furniture delivery man trying to make his small shop’s last delivery gets lost along the way and meets a haunted TV repairwoman, a young boy and his giant eagle brother, a pair of robot musicians, and dozens of other characters. Together, they explore the nocturnal highways and country roads of Kentucky, the storied Echo River by ferry, and the mysterious Route Zero, the secret highway that runs through Mammoth Cave.

But good things come to those who wait, and in this case, it’s the console gamers who probably get the most for waiting. Since Kentucky Route Zero was only available on PC for all those years, console gamers will be able to experience the surreal and visually outstanding adventure for the first time ever.

As Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition, owners of a PlayStation 4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch can look forward to the entire completed game in just three weeks. With the completion of the game, KR0 is also getting rebranded on PC as Kentucky Route Zero: PC Edition, which you can already purchase for $24.99.
