Kickstarter game Shovel Knight digs its way to Wii U, 3DS

Indie developer Yacht Club Games, which is comprised of former WayForward talent, is currently toiling away on Shovel Knight. As indicated by the studio on the game's Kickstarter page, the upcoming title will also be coming to the Wii U and 3DS if it reaches its funding goal of $75,000.

Shovel Knight is a tribute to old school 8-bit platformers, but rather than starring a sword-welding hero, the game features a shovel-toting knight. The result is a comical take on the classic warrior epic. Seriously, swords are, like, so 1980s.

Regarding Shovel Knight on the Wii U and 3DS, Yacht Club Games stated, "We are so completely excited to be developing for Nintendo! Because as an 8-bit style game, Nintendo is where Shovel Knight belongs. Now our heritage platform is secured. What platform could be next!?!?"
