Kingdom Hearts 3 and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will release “in the next three years or so” according to Square Enix CEO

Anyone who’s been a fan of Square Enix over the last ten years or so knows a thing or two about waiting. During the company’s Financial Briefings report outline that showed a slide with Kingdom Hearts 3 and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake unsurprisingly missing a potential 2017 release window, Square Enix President and CEO, Yosuke Matsuda offered a small glimpse into a possible release window for both games (presumably Episode 1 of Final Fantasy 7).

Here’s the slide in question:

Matsuda said:

“This slide shows our release lineup for FY2017/3 as well as for FY2018/3 and beyond. We plan to launch each of these upcoming titles in the next three years or so.”

Given Square Enix’s recent, and by recent I mean the last ten years with its handling of Final Fantasy XV, it’s hard to project just where these games will end up. Kingdom Hearts 3 is rumored to be at E3 2017 with a new trailer but is expected to have “cuts” to meet a 2018 release window. Meanwhile, the team working on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is “urgently” recruiting new staff in order to accelerate its development timeline.

Hope for the best, Square Enix fans.
