After a very rough start to their beta testing for Street Fighter V, Capcom has delivered a devastating combo of their own to players anxiously awaiting the exclusive title on Playstation 4. Players that took part in the beta had a smooth, but brief experience with the beta test until they were booted out and couldn't reconnect to the servers. After a three day period of server-related issues, Capcom decided to take down the servers for an extended maintenance period, until such a time as they would be prepared to handle the players demand and offer a satisfactory experience.
"Capcom offers its sincerest apologies to everyone who participated in this first beta test. While the purpose of a beta is to work out these type of issues, it was very clear that the issues we faced were more severe than we were prepared for. After three days of testing, while we were making progress and collecting valuable data, we felt the majority of players were not having a good experience, and the best course of action would be to take the servers offline for extended maintenance. We will be postponing our first beta phase until we believe the experience is going to be a positive one for players."
Capcom has gone further by ensuring they are working on the issues that plagued the servers and that this beta test will not count toward previous beta test allotments. They also plan to repay those affected by the server issues with an in game incentive, which they will be deciding on at a later time.
"Additionally, we are working on a worthwhile in-game incentive for the players that participated in the first beta test. While we can't confirm specifics just yet, we will have more details on this in the coming weeks."
As custom demands, Capcom acknowledged the patience of their fan base and make a promise they would do well to keep.
"Thank you so much for your continued support, and we promise that we will have a better experience for you with the future betas."
Players will need remain patient for the upcoming announcements for both further beta testing and the incentives that Capcom promised. Capcom will hopefully keep true to their promises and stay vigilant so players can truly test their servers before the games expected release in March 2016.
