Konami slashes price on next-gen versions of Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes

Today, Konami announced a bunch of new features for MGS Ground Zeroes that will tie in with MGS V: The Phantom Pain. For instance, getting an early copy will secure DLC that can be used for Phantom Pain, and will grant users will additional staff units for Mother Base, which sounds very similar to Peace Walker's structure.

However, the most notable news for Ground Zeroes is its reduced next-gen pricing. When first announced, gamers rejoiced at the $39.99 price tag for Ground Zeroes, making it a much more affordable entry price than at full retail cost. Then came the news of the game's length and people started getting worried. Ground Zeroes seemed to be nothing more than an extended demo getting players prepped for Phantom Pain. Needless to say, paying $40 for a really short game wasn't favorable by anyone.

In today's announcement, Konami has stated that both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One prices have been reduced to $29.99 to match the price of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. Digital copies of next-gen versions will also be priced at that amount, while the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 digital versions will be priced at $19.99.

Good move Konami, good move.
