League of Legends’ Snowdown Showdown is here for your 1v1 and 2v2 winter fantasies

Granted, I’ve been playing League of Legends for years now, but I know I’m not the only one ever to be in a match when some raging player (possibly you) types in all chat during the match, “yo, 1v1 me after this.” Sometimes said in jest, other times said dead seriously, summoners have been looking for that vice to show their individual skill versus a single other player. Those players will be happy to know that all their longing has finally been answered with Riot’s newest patch, Snowdown Showdown.

This new mode allows players to queue up alone or with a friend to participate in 1v1 or 2v2 battles with other players. The rules are simple. Whichever team gets 100 cs, takes down a tower, or gets first blood (2 kills in 2v2) wins. These three options offer multiple threats and dispels complete focus on one or the other. If all you want to do is murder the other players but they are killing minion safely under their tower, you’re going to lose. It’s so simple, but as per anything League of Legends related, there is a ton of strategy once you boil down the simplicity.

Similarly to the Hallowing, there are permanent summoner icons available if you’re willing to do just a little bit of work for them. There are four you have to do something specific for and then a final one for unlocking the others – five in total. Here the image for the requirements:

This mode will only be available from now to January 2nd, so get out there and DUEL!
