League of Legends spectate mode in testing

The much-awaited spectate mode could be coming to League of Legends in an upcoming patch, Riot confirmed.

League of Legends senior producer Lance Stites confirmed the feature is "currently on test on the PBE" in an IAMA on Reddit last night.

Spectator mode was actually shown off last year at E3, although at the time Riot confirmed it wasn't 100% ready.  Since then, they have only used it during livestream tournaments.

"It isn't expected with Hecarim but I am anxious to see it released with an upcoming patch," he responded when a fan asked for him to elaborate on the future.

Riot recently confirmed that the Hecarim patch, expected this week, will actually be delayed due to "game-breaking bugs" that were discovered during internal testing.

Fans should expect the Hecarim patch next week.
