League of Legends players will soon be able to set foot in the revamped, visually-improved Summoner's Rift, as developer Riot Games announced today that the updated map will be entering open beta "soon."
Riot teased the upcoming beta at the end of a video previewing the revamped map, which has received a complete overhaul. Although it's still a work in progress, the changes made to the 10-person battleground are quite a dramatic difference.
Riot has been working on on the updated Summoner's Rift map for quite a while now, teasing bits and pieces of it here and there, while including the updated elements in each patch as to avoid a massive update when the full map is rolled out.
We will don't have a solid release date for the Summoner's Rift beta, but last month Riot Games confirmed plans for a staggered rollout during the preseason. Here's the tentative schedule:
Stage 1: Team Builder and Intro Bot games
Stage 2: All normal modes, custom games, and all other bot modes
Stage 3: Ranked
