Leaked image of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens could squash one rumor

Maybe he's not a bad guy after all

There's been plenty of speculation surrounding the role Luke Skywalker will have in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with one theory even suggesting that the beloved character might have turned to the dark side. Well, if a leaked image of Mark Hamill from the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is any indication, he's still the same Jedi we've loved for years — but a little older and perhaps wiser now.

The image shows Hamill dressed in the signature Jedi robe, with the light color scheme suggesting he hasn't lost is way. If anything, he's got more of a Ben Kenobi (Obi-Wan) type look to him, so perhaps Luke will serve as more of a mentor in the film. With The Force Awakens mixing the original cast with a band of newcomers, it's possible this could be a passing of the torch — er, lightsaber — type thing.

What's interesting is that this costume also doesn't match the one worn by the mysterious figure who touched R2-D2 with that cybernetic hand.

Maybe that wasn't Luke in the teaser after all. Or maybe it's a flashback of some sort. Ah, I don't know! December 18th can't come soon enough!
