Leaked Mass Effect: Andromeda footage shows jetpack gameplay

Old but gold

A personal jetpack is the star of a brief section of Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay footage recently unearthed by an inquisitive NeoGAF user.

The footage is said to be from 2014, meaning the features and content depicted have likely been changed or removed. The majority of the 50-odd seconds of footage (available via a link in this NeoGAF thread) is focused on environmental details, including rain, fog and other weather and particle effects, such as the tear gas-like grenade wielded by a Krogan.

The high point of the clip begins around 32 seconds in with a quick look at jetpack-aided exploration. The clip is short and dated, but also firm evidence of Andromeda’s world including freeform, vertical exploration.

Earlier this week, NeoGAF users turned up a survey allegedly revealing much of Andromeda’s story. The gist of the plot is said to be humans searching for a new home planet in a hostile galaxy, and butting heads with indigenous races in the process. The synopsis overlaps considerably with a survey leaked in April 2015, which lends credence to the rumor.
