Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild backstory revealed and it’s intense

There is no doubt that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the most anticipated Nintendo Switch game, and possibly the most overall game for this year. We know little about the game before launch on March 3rd, but some dedicated fans manage to find out the back story for us.

During the Nintendo Treehouse event last Friday, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime showed off the map of Hyrule that is included with the $130 Master Edition of the game. On the back was a bunch of Sheikah text and a picture of the Calamity Ganon (this game's version) in the center. The four corners each had an unknown object and these were all translated by Youtuber Zeltik.

Before you continue, be warned that no game spoilers are listed, but you should skip this if you want to know nothing about the backstory/plot beforehand

The translation of the text is as follows, within a 4% margin of error as noted in the video below

“Hylians pass stories of a destined time long past where multiple races lived and worked together in harmony. The Sheikah Tribe’s blue aura breathed through the land and this mutual prosperity continued until a cataclysmic disaster stuck. The Hero and the Princess attempted to seal the terror which became known as the Calamity Ganon. Divine beasts awoke from four directions and deployed a mechanical army which made the King and his people fearful. They fractured Ganon’s power and sealed him but the Sheikah were banished from the land ever since”

Basically, 100 years ago the Calamity Ganon appeared out of nowhere and managed to defeat Link. Before it could take over the world, the Sheikah and four guardians managed to trap Ganon inside of Hyrule Castle. The Sheikah managed to hide Link inside of the Shrine of Resurrection, where we see him awake at the beginning of the game. With this information, our journey will lead Link in an effort recover and repower the Sheikah guardians to take down the Calamity Ganon once and for all.

Wow! Now, that is a story and nothing like we've ever seen from Zelda before. What do you think about this? Let us know below, and be sure to watch Zeltik's video as well.
