LEGO Marvel's Avengers was scheduled to be the second major console LEGO game to release this year, but it has been delayed in an announcement from Gamescom. Along with a reveal of several new characters and some returning to the franchise, Warner Bros and TT Games announced that the game will now release at the end of January 2016 on all consoles and PC.
There will be several new areas to explore, including New York CIty, as the game embarks along the storylines of both Avengers films. Similar to Lego Marvel Super Heroes, there will be an open world setup to the game similar to Lego the Movie Videogame with a central hub world and various other worlds to enter. There were some on display at Gamescom today where TT Games made the character announcements. New to the franchise, we will be able to play with Speed and Kamala Khan as well as seeing the return of Squirrel Girl. The Jane Foster version of Thor is also in the game.
LEGO Marvel's Avengers will now release on January 26th 2016 in North America and the 29th in Europe. Check out the screenshots of some of the new characters below.
