LEGO The Lord of the Rings releases today on DS, 3DS, and PS Vita

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's LEGO The Lord of the Rings game is now available across North America for Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, and PlayStation Vita, giving players a chance to experience the epic adventure to save Middle-earth in LEGO form.

The game tells the epic story of the Fellowship's journey across the imaginative world created by J.R.R. Tolkien, but with the added fun, humor, and creativity that comes with the LEGO game franchise.

“With LEGO The Lord of the Rings, we are taking players on a truly remarkable adventure that is more epic than any they’ve experienced before in a LEGO game,” said TT Games managing director Tom Stone. “The game has a wonderful cast of characters, dramatic battles, and amazing locations, all of which bring The Lord of the Rings story to life in a uniquely LEGO way that the entire family will enjoy together.”

Iconic scenes from the books and films, like Helms Deep, The Shire, and Mount Doom, will be recreated in LEGO fashion. You'll also enjoy playing as blocky versions of Frodo, Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, and others as you traverse these lands, solving puzzles and collecting a variety of weapons and magical items.

Although the game is out today for handheld devices, it won't launch on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, or PC until November 13, 2012.
