Lindsay Lohan is campaigning to play Batgirl

Would you want to see her play Batgirl?

Former Disney star and early 2000s teen icon Lindsay Lohan has had quite the career. She was a massive star after the success of films like The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, and Mean Girls but shortly after those big hits, the star fell into a downward spiral of drugs and alcohol which resulted in serious legal troubles. Since then, she has been stuck doing critically panned indie films but she’s looking to get back into the limelight in a more positive way by taking on the role of Batgirl.

At the start of 2017, it was revealed that director of The Avengers and reshoots of Justice League, Joss Whedon, would be helming a Batgirl standalone film for DC in the near future. While there’s nothing else really known about the project right now, the 31-year-old actress is keen on playing Batman’s protege.

On Twitter, Lohan has been vocal about wanting to play Barbara Gordon who she has a bit of a resemblance to and has been hoping to rally her fans to win the role. The actresses’ newest stunt to win the role was simply tweeting out a photoshopped image of her next to Batgirl. Will this work? Hard to say.

Batgirl is usually portrayed as a late teenager/early 20s woman and Lohan’s lifestyle has taken a toll on her youthful looks. Another actor who tried something similar to Lohan is former Nickelodeon star and Spider-Man voice actor Drake Bell. The actor was interested in the role of Nightwing and began posting vague and cryptic tweets last summer to psych fans up, potentially showing Warner Bros. there’s interest in him playing the character. There have been no casting announcements for the Batgirl film or the Nightwing film.

One other member of the Batfamily who may be getting a new actor to play their role is Batman. After three appearances as The Dark Knight, Ben Affleck seems to be tired and worn down by the physicality of the role, the poor response to the movies, and issues in his personal life. Rumor has it that The Batman director Matt Reeves is eyeing Jake Gyllenhaal and an announcement is expected to come sometime this year.
