Back in 2014, Lindsay Lohan filed a lawsuit against the Grand Theft Auto 5 developer Rockstar Games. Earlier this year, a judge allowed the case to move forward, despite Rockstar claiming the lawsuit to be founded on a "legally meritless" claim.
The lawsuit is finally over and Lohan didn't win.
What was Lohan suing over? The actress claimed that Rockstar had used her likeness in the game without her permission in an objective in the game that featured 'Lacy Jonas' and in the game's promotional art – despite the fact Rockstar had used another model (Shelby Welinder).
Apparently, Lohan believed that her peace sign waving hand and a similar photo was a dead giveaway that the promotional image used her likeness.
Unfortunately for Lohan, a five-judge panel threw her case to the curb. The judges went on to say that even if there was a likeness, that GTA 5's "unique story, characters, dialogue, and environment, combined with the player’s ability to choose how to proceed in the game, render it a work of fiction and satire” which gives it protection under the first amendment.
