Sony hasn't come out and said it yet, but it's beginning to look like their mysterious ad campaign on the PlayStation YouTube account is for their upcoming brawler PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
The first ad, which was titled "Reload", raised some eyebrows when it was released last week. The video featured the same actress from the previous "For Michael" ad run by Sony last year, but there were several other references that had fans a little confused as to what it was advertising. There were references to the Ape Escape games as well as inFAMOUS, when the power goes out and you hear the electrical sound indicating Cole is nearby. It also flashed the date October 23, 2012, which is when the PlayStation Store redesign goes live.
Then, over the weekend, Sony released another trailer and things began to make a little more sense. Titled "The Arrival", it showed the same actress typing as a jeep pulled up to the building. In the reflection of the jeep's window it appeared Nathan Drake, another character in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, was getting out of the car. Once again, an October 23, 2012 date was shown.
And today, we've got another trailer which seems to solidify the ad is for PlayStation All-Stars. The same woman sees "The Aftermath" of Sweet Tooth. On the floor you see a melted ice cream cone, bullet casings, and Sweet Tooth's signature machete. Again, the October 23, 2012 date.
Three trailers, three characters from PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. So what exactly does all of this mean? I can't say for sure, but there are some guesses that these are simply teasers for a full-blown ad which will debut on October 23 which, if you remember, was supposed to be the release date for PlayStation All-Stars before it was delayed until November 20. Who knows, maybe with the delay, Sony and SuperBot Entertainment worked in some mysterious bonus mode or feature. Come October 23, our questions should be answered.
What do you thinkt he October 23 date signifies?
