Yesterday we reported on a leaked page from Nintendo UK's site detailing two DLC packs for Mario Kart 8. Both featuring new characters to the series like Link, Villager and Isabelle, 4 new vehicles and new 8 tracks per pack. That's a whole lot of content. In fact, if you go by courses alone, that's expanding the game by 50%.
Turns out, that leak is 100% true. The first pack will release November 2014, while the 2nd will release May 2015. What's unbelievable about these DLCs isn't the amount of content packed in though, it's the price. According to Kotaku's update, each DLC will cost $8 separately, or $12 as a bundle. Let me rephrase that. That's 6 new characters, 8 new cars and 16 new tracks for only $12.
Is this a case of Nintendo being overly generous, or perhaps a case of not understanding the normal pricing structure of DLC. Whatever the case may be, that's an absolute steal for the amount of content you're getting.
Those that buy both, separately or as a bundle, will also unlock eight color variations of Shy Guys and Yoshis, pictured below.
