With the Hulk not participating in the civil war that's about to unfold in the upcoming Captain America movie, we've been hearing rumors that Bruce Banner/Hulk would instead be appearing in Thor: Ragnarok. Those rumors are gaining steam as Variety is now reporting that Ruffalo is in the final negotiations to star alongside Chris Hemsworth in the third Thor film.
Plot details for Thor: Ragnarok, written by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle, remain vague, but there's speculation that the film will take place somewhere other than Earth and Asgard. How the Hulk will play into the storyline also remains a mystery, but it's believe this could be the setup for an eventual Planet Hulk movie of his own.
Assuming the report is true, this would be the first time Ruffalo will appear as the Hulk in a film that isn't an Avengers movie. The last standalone Hulk film starred Edward Norton.
Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
