Square Enix has released lots of new gameplay footage of their highly-anticipated superhero game Marvel’s Avengers. In the recent War Table digital event, we learn more about the villainous threats alongside a focus on the Thor and his mighty hammer. Watch it all here!
First, we have Asgard’s golden boy Thor who returns from his superhero retirement to protect an helicarrier from crashing down onto New York. Seeing how the main story of Marvel’s Avengers starts with a hellicarrier disaster, to begin with, it’s a great moment for the disbanded and disillusioned band of heroes to once again come together. These types of Hero Missions serve as part of the main story and focus on one hero.
But who was really behind the original accident in the first place? And who is now trying to cause chaos again? We’re sure with the deep treasure trove of iconic villains in the Marvel universe, there will be plenty of those in the game. But this time, we get a glimpse at Modok. A former employee of the evil Advanced Idea Mechanics – A.I.M. – weapon company who is trying to gain control over the world.
Last but not least, we learn more about Co-Op and Warzones. These portions of the game serve alongside the main campaign and are designed to be replayed multiple times either with friends or alone.
But there’s even more to see and learn about the various mechanics and customization options which you can watch in the full War Table video here. Marvel’s Avengers is coming out this September 4th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X owners can look forward to receiving their next-gen versions as free upgrades when the new consoles launch later this year!
