Master Chief continues the fight in Fortnite starting today

Crossover madness

Starting today, Fortnite players can play the popular battle royale game as the iconic Master Chief. Yes, the cult hero from Microsoft’s legendary first-person shooter franchise. Check out the reveal trailer here!

Crossover events in games aren’t terribly uncommon. But what’s happening in Fortnite currently really is on a whole different level. It’s not that some guest characters are just making an appearance. It’s that several of the biggest characters that are platform mascots come to Fortnite.

Master Chief is without a doubt one of the most recognizable and best-known mascot characters. Namely, for the Xbox brand. Now, the genetically enhanced super-soldier joins the fray in Fortnite.

As announced at The Game Awards, the next figure from across realities to join the hunt is famed Spartan Master Chief. Hunter of the Covenant and destroyer of the Sacred Rings, few are more qualified to take on the Island’s bounties and the existential threat of the Loop.

And Master Chief is not the only big guest character. As part of the Gaming Legends series, plenty of other notable gaming icons are also inbound for Fortnite. Epic revealed just one week prior that Kratos is a new character for their game.

Obviously, this marks the first time that two major game characters from Microsoft and Sony appear in the same game! Who would have thought to see Fortnite create such an iconic moment?

Still, Fortnite players on the Xbox Series X|S get a bonus. Once they purchase the Master Chief outfit in Fortnite on Microsoft’s new console, they’ll automatically unlock a special Matter Black style. It’s a neat extra for Xbox fans and will no doubt stand out during matches.

Alongside the Master Chief outfit, other Halo items are also now available. Besides a miniature Pelican Glider and a holographic Elite skull, players can also use a sweet Gravity Hammer Pickaxe. Last but not least, a cute mini-Warthog rounds up the package.
