Media Create: PS4 sells 309,000 units in Japan

The PlayStation 4 launched in Japan over the weekend, immediately shooting to the top of the sales charts. Media Create estimates that 309,154 PS4 consoles were sold in Japan between February 17 through February 23. The next closest console was the Nintendo 3DS which sold just 32,151 units in the same span.

PS4 also dominated the software charts with 10 titles in the top 20. Knack led all games, but that's likely due to the fact it was included with each PS4. Yakuza Ishin! was next on the list, taking the second and third spots for PS3 and PS4, respectively. Killzone: Shadow Fall was seventh on the list with 32,336 units sold, followed by the PS4 version of Battlefield 4 with 24,799 units.

Media Create's estimates are slightly lower than what Famitsu reported earlier this week. Famitsu estimated that 322,083 PS4 consoles were sold in just two days.

Pretty impressive numbers either way.
