SCEA and SCEE have yet to announce April's free PlayStation Plus games, but a new post on the official PlayStation Blog of Asia suggests PS Plus members will be getting Mercenary Kings for PlayStation 4.
Developed by Tribute Games, Mercenary Kings is a side-scrolling, 2D action game in which you play as Empress or King, two members of an elite squad known as the Mercneary Kings. You are dropped on to Mandragora Island where you must rescue the brilliant Dr. James Neil from the forces of C.L.A.W. (Cyber Loyalist Active Weapons) and prevent them from using the Mandrake Formula for global domination.
Earlier this month, Sony confirmed Mercenary Kings will be releasing for PS4 on April 1, but did not mention if it would be part of April's PS Plus offerings. SCEA and SCEE still haven't said anything, but if our offerings are the same as PlayStation Asia — and history suggests it could be — then we can expect it for free as well. Last month, PlayStation Asia also outed Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition as March's free PS4 game and even though it wasn't yet announced at the time, SCEA revealed it not long after.
Though PlayStation Asia may differ from our markets in terms of PS3 and Vita PS Plus games, the relatively thin catalog of PS4 games could be the reason for overlap between the markets.
