Metal Gear Solid lifetime sales reach 33 million

Metal Gear Solid has hit a new milestone in lifetime sales, and Konami's plans for the series means those numbers probably won't slow down anytime soon.

The publisher announced today that it's sold more than 33 million Metal Gear Solid games, an increase of 2 million since March 2012, according to GameSpot.

In comparison, the Halo franchise has pushed 50 million units as of December 2012.

With new games Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain and its prologue Ground Zeroes on the way and The Legacy Collection coming in June, the stealth-action series is in good standing.
