MGSV seems to have had a chapter 3, which was sadly cut from the main game

Will Kojima or Konami ever clarify any of this?

It has been roughly two weeks since MGSV: The Phantom Pain released and fans of the series of been pointing out that The Phantom Pain seems a bit rushed and incomplete. There will be no spoilers here so no worries, but a thread on FacePunch has found a couple of interesting files in the PC version of MGSV, which clearly shows an extra chapter.

The extra chapter was intended to be called “Peace”, which might have served for a better conclusion than the one players have officially received. If you have completed the game you’ll know exactly what I mean, the game sort of just ends abruptly, leaving players with more questions than answers. The files also hint a possible cameo/flashback of 'The Boss’, by taking a look at the files you could clearly see 'The Boss’ scar. Perhaps there mores more to the story than we thought?

There has been plenty of rumors that MGSV wanted a third region to explore, but perhaps to the conflict between Kojima and Konami, the games greater good was cut due to their friction. Chapter 2 has players, for the most part, revisit the same missions from chapter 1, but with a harder difficulty, for example go through the mission undetected or enter the mission with NO weapons. In my opinion these type of missions feel like filler, but maybe to Kojimas unpredictable circumstances with Konami, he had no other choice.

The Phantom Pain is still by far an excellent game, from the immersive graphics to the most in depth stealth gameplay, Metal Gear has never felt better. As for the story, thats a whole other issue, for myself I felt the games story was not what I thought it could have been. With Kojima and Konami going their different ways, it will be interesting to see where they decide to take the next Metal Gear.
