Michael Biehn revisits the ’80s in Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, releasing May 1

Ubisoft's Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is, in their words, "an '80s VHS vision of the future" where you must "get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world." The downloadable PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 spin-off, set in a dystopian 2007, is set to launch on May 1st. How it links with last year's Far Cry 3 remains a mystery, but we do have some more clarification on the game.

The official XBLMP listing revealed that '80s action star Michael Biehn will be voicing the main character, Sargent Rex Colt. Biehn is best known for his roles as Kyle Reese in Terminator, Cpl. Dwayne Hicks in Aliens, and Lt. James Curran in Navy Seals. Most recently, he reprised his role of Cpl. Hicks in Aliens: Colonial Marines on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

In addition to that announcement, the official XBLMP listing says:

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is THE Kick-Ass Cyber Shooter taking place on a bizarre open-world island crawling with evil. Welcome to an 80’s VHS vision of the future. The year is 2007 and you are Sargent Rex Colt, a Mark IV Cyber Commando who’s fighting against a cyborg army gone rogue. Your mission: get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world. Experience every cliché of a VHS era vision of a nuclear future, where cyborgs, blood dragons, mutants, and Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens, Navy Seals) collide. Playing Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon doesn't require a copy of Far Cry 3.

The stand-alone, downloadable shooter bleeds '80's glory, as you can see from the pictures from the XBLA listing. The only other features listed are online leaderboards. We'll update you as more becomes known.
