MicroProse unveils two FPS Operation: Harsh Doorstop & Warfare 1944

Newly resurrected publisher MicroProse has shared two new titles. Operation: Harsh Doorstop & Warfare 1944 are both online first-person shooters with the former being a free-to-play title. Both games are set to come out on Steam.

Operation: Harsh Doorstep takes place in 1991 Afghanistan where Soviet and NATO forces are in the midst of a proxy war. Oh, and it is free-to-play. The teaser trailer isn’t blowing us away with its production quality but reading the description definitely is. Developer Drakeling Labs openly states that their upcoming game will be devoid of any micro-transactions or paid DLC.

Experience large-scale tactical warfare in Operation: Harsh Doorstop. Communicate with your team and emerge victorious in this brutally realistic competitive multiplayer title. Utilize a wide variety of weapons and equipment to achieve dynamically changing objectives.
Operation: Harsh Doorstop is a love letter to the tactical gaming genre, built by a passionate community of developers and gamers alike… with no price tag. Support the Operation: Harsh Doorstop project and help bring tactical gaming to the masses.

The same developer is also behind MicroProse’s second newly unveiled game Warfare 1944. This is a regular paid game and while it’s also a PvP-focused online shooter, it features a heavily stylized art style set in World War II.

Warfare 1944 focuses on tactical gameplay. Bullets are deadly, one shot can kill. Team communication is essential and Warfare 1944 features robust proximity voice communication which allows you to communicate with your fellow soldiers alongside you.
Wield a wide variety of weapons and equipment while you attempt to survive the chaos of war. Rally your friends to your team, and fight in massive battles across vast open landscapes. Keep your wits, and defeat your enemies. Warfare is unforgiving.

Drakeling Labs is a relative newcomer in the gaming scene as a developer. You might know the studio head as Bluedrake42 on Youtube and Twitch. He is a prolific game streamer and hobby game developer. That’s a good sign since his background ought to give him unique insight into what gamers really desire.

There is no concrete release date for either Operation: Harsh Doorstop or Warfare 1944 besides a tentative “Coming Soon”.
