Microsoft confirms Xbox One will not automatically record your Achievements

Microsoft's Director of Product Planning, Albert Penello, has confirmed that the Xbox One won't automatically record Achievements you unlock while playing a game. Penello took to NeoGAF to clarify the feature following reports coming out of EB Games Expo that claimed just the opposite.

"It won't be automatic for every Achievement," Penello said. "It's a feature that Developers can unlock for achievements, OR, for instance, have hidden in the game for doing something cool or discovering something hidden. Basically we allow developers access to GameDVR and they can put conditions on an automatic recording."

"But not every Achievement will automatically be recorded," he reiterated.

Soooo, what does this mean for the average Xbox One user? Probably nothing, but I can already see the console war fanboys readying to label this as another "PR fail" on behalf of Microsoft. Honestly, though, it's not that big of a deal.
