Microsoft expecting ‘blockbuster launch’ for Titanfall on Xbox One

Microsoft won't share the sales forecast for Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall, but the company did reveal that it has high expectations for the just-released shooter. Yesterday, Titanfall launched for Xbox One and PC, with an Xbox 360 version coming March 25.

"We're making a big bet that Titanfall is going to be a blockbuster launch for Xbox," Microsoft marketing executive Yusuf Mehdi told Reuters. "We don't have a sales forecast for the game to share, but we expect it to be big for us."

Though the game's launch has been plagued by issues with Xbox LIVE, it has been well-received by both fans and critics. Given the hype surrounding the game prior to release, it's not unreasonable to have such expectations either. Titanfall is easily the biggest game to release for Xbox One to date and as an exclusive Microsoft is hoping it becomes a system-seller, much like Halo was for the original Xbox back in 2001. Of course, Halo remained an Xbox exclusive and though Titanfall is available only on Xbox and PC, Respawn has hinted that a sequel could potentially come to PlayStation as well.
