Microsoft renames SkyDrive to OneDrive

SkyDrive, Microsoft's cloud file storage program, has been renamed to OneDrive. Similar to Microsoft's idea behind the Xbox One, the company wants OneDrive to be your "one" place for your most important stuff. For Xbox One users, SkyDrive acts as the storage for all screenshots and video files.

"We know that increasingly you will have many devices in your life, but you really want only one place for your most important stuff," explained Ryan Gavin, Consumer Apps & Services general manager. "One place for all of your photos and videos. One place for all of your documents. One place that is seamlessly connected across all the devices you use. You want OneDrive for everything in your life."

"We believe the new OneDrive name conveys the value we can deliver for you and best represents our vision for the future," he added.

According to Microsoft, current SkyDrive users won't have to worry about a thing as this only relates a name change with the system. The service "will continue to operate as you expect and all of your contentw ill be available in OneDrive when it's released."

What do you think of the name change?
