Minecraft on Xbox 360 has sold 3.6 million copies

The Xbox Live version of the popular game Minecraft has sold 3.6 million copies to date, according to Mojang's Daniel Kaplan on Twitter.

Minecraft released on the console in May and sold 3 million by the end of July. The game even broke all previous sales records for Microsoft's service in its first 24 hours. At least 400,000 users were playing the game at the time, wrote Larry Hryb, Xbox Live's Major Nelson.

In less than one week, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition sold more than 1,000,000 copies globally.

Kaplan recently revealed that Minecraft for PC has sold 7 million copies.
