Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation stunt inspired by Uncharted 3’s plane sequence

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation's crazy plane stunt inspired by Naughty Dog's popular game

It seems more and more lately, that film directors are paying closer attention to video games. The latest is Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie, who recently revealed that Naughty Dog's Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception inspired one of the upcoming film's big stunt sequences.

In a recent fan Q&A conducted on his Twitter, McQuarrie said that the plane stunt with Tom Cruise (teased briefly in the trailer above) was a "group effort" inspired by the Uncharted game. Clearly, he's referring to the cargo plane sequence in Uncharted 3, during which Nathan Drake catches up to a cargo plan and hops on to the landing wheel as it lifts off.

Following the tweet, Uncharted 3 co-director Justin Richmond responded to McQuarrie, saying "you just made my month."

This isn't the first time we've seen Naughty Dog's Uncharted series mentioned in Hollywood. Earlier this month, Star Wars: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams called Uncharted 2: Among Thieves' intro sequence "the best opening" he's ever seen.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which is believed to be the last entry in Nathan Drake's adventure, is set to release in 2016 exclusively on PlayStation 4.
