Modern Warfare 3 haters: ‘Play something you like,’ says Activision

Activision took the high road when defending Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 against the onslaught of trolls when Content Collection #1 went live on PlayStation 3 yesterday.

Their response to the number of posters who simply had nothing constructive to offer, just "Call of Duty sucks"?

"Play whatever makes you happy :)"

That was the response of Activision's social media manager Dan Amrich who not only did an interview with the PlayStation blog, but also responded to some negative fan criticism.

"Play something you like more.  You could be championing a game you like more instead of slagging this one and the people who have fun with it," Amrich continued. "Why waste your time complaining about a game you don’t enjoy, you know?"

Amrich went on to say there is room for more than one first-person shooter in the gaming market.  There doesn't just have to be a Call of Duty or a Battlefield – as most fan boys have insisted on.

"I never really understood the attitude that if you like Military Game A, then Military Game B must suck and then be wiped off the face of the earth. A and B might both be of interest, you know?" he said.  "Like, thank goodness nobody says “no more sci-fi movies, they already made one.” Different approaches work for different people."

The fact is, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 sold well – so there is a market for it.  Whether you hate the game or love it, it obviously offers something that makes players keep coming back.  If it's not for you, that's fine.  Personally, I enjoyed BF3 more, but I don't go around saying Activision shouldn't make any more games.  Some people enjoy it, so why try to rain on their parade?
