Mojang’s 0x10c ‘will support’ the Oculus Rift provided this happens…

If it supports Java, the Oculus Rift could gain the support of Mojang, the studio responsible for smash PC hit Minecraft.

Revealed last week as a Kickstarter project, the Oculus Rift is a revolutionary new virtual reality headset that produces a stereoscopic 3D experience with a huge field of view. The Rift, which already has the support of several high profile developers and publishers including Valve and Epic Games, met its $250,000 Kickstarter goal in just a single day.

Speaking on Twitter, Markus 'Notch' Persson, the founder of Mojang, told his followers that his next project 0x10c will support the Rift providing they can get it to work with Java.

Little is known about Notch's new game except that it is still in early development and set in a parallel reality, where the space race never ended and space travel was gaining popularity among the rich and powerful. The year 1988 saw the release of a deep sleep cell whose unique programming caused a strange glitch: "a requested sleep of 0x0000 0000 0000 0001 years to last for 0x0001 0000 0000 0000 years."

Now, in the year 281,474,976,712,644 AD, people are waking up to a universe verging on destruction, "with all remote galaxies forever lost to red shift, star formation long since ended, and massive black holes dominating the galaxy."

Given that both 0x10c and the Rift are still a ways away, it's likely Mojang could figure out a way to make Java work with it in time.
