Murdered: Soul Suspect trailer goes beyond the grave

Back in February, Square Enix teased a new game — Murdered: Soul Suspect. Aside from a brief 30-second teaser, not much was shared about the game — other than you'd be solving the hardest case of all, you're own murder. As expected, Square Enix has released a more official trailer, setting up the background to your murder, while revealing a few gameplay details.

As you'll see in the trailer, you assume the role of Ronan O'Connor, a detective with a "checkered past," who is brutally murdered by an mysterious, unknown character. Unable to move on and stuck in the limbo world of Dusk, you must bring the killer to justice. Here's the catch though, since you're stuck in this limbo, you are unable to communicate with the detectives on O'Connor's case; therefore, you'll have to read the minds of the living, influencing their thoughts and actions. Additionally, you'll have to interrogate the ghosts of Salem, Massachusetts' past citizens to piece together the puzzle, while battling demonic spirits out to steal your soul.

Today's trailer doesn't provide a look at any gameplay, but does set the story up quite nicely. Hopefully, we see some gameplay at E3 next week, but for now we must settle for the setup to the game's story. Murdered: Soul Suspect will be available early 2014 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. There's no mention of next-gen consoles.
