Apparently, when announcing the first Star Wars spinoff movie, officially titled "Rogue One," Disney CEO Bob Iger had some accompanying concept art to show to those in attendance of yesterday's shareholder meeting.
While the first piece of concept art hasn't been revealed for the public eye just yet, /Film has gone ahead and gathered details of the mysterious art from those that were present at the meeting.
While it's easy to assume, based on the title "Rogue One," that the film would involve the first group of X-Wing fighters, the concept art apparently showed something much different. It actually might fall more in line with previous rumors that the film could be about a team of bounty hunters who are trying to steal the Death Star plans for the Rebel Alliance.
Here are some of the details that were gathered:
At this point, all we really know about the new film is that Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) is on board to direct, with Chris Weitz (Cinderella) writing the script. We also know that the idea is based on an idea from John Knoll, whatever that means.
With a release date of December 16, 2016 we'll likely have to wait a bit longer for more official details, but you can bet there will be tons of leaks, rumors, and speculation between now and then.
