NBA 2K13 video highlights ‘Control Stick’ gameplay and defensive changes

A new behind-the-scenes developer video has been released giving fans their first look at the gameplay in NBA 2K13, this year's installment of 2K Sports popular basketball franchise.

The video shows a number of gameplay clips while highlighting the new Control Stick functionality as well as the changes made to defense.

One of the major changes made to NBA 2K13 was switching the shot stick, normally the default right stick, to the control stick. Now moving that stick will help will ball control. It's now a 1-to-1 system, so if you move the stick to the left the ball will move to the left. If you roll the stick in a circle you'll do a spin move.

"It feels a lot better and it gives you a lot more control with what you want to do with the ball," said senior game designer Mike Wang.

Another big change was to defense. 2K worked "really hard" on getting the movement, change of direction, and foot planting right so that the physics is accurate and more fun.

The early look at NBA 2K13 looks promising, but check out the new video for a closer look at what 2K is calling the "best one" in the long-standing franchise.
