Need for Speed will let you Snapshot your way to in game currency

We saw some new footage and information from EA at this year's Gamescom including news on how the in game, live action sequences will tie into the story and a contest to build your own Need for Speed car. We will be able to choose from five different race styles with each one tied to a separate racer. The more we race and tune our skills respective to each style, different video scenes will appear throughout the game that will impact our progress.

We've also known for a while that this Need for Speed will require a constant internet connection, which wasn't really a surprise considering Need for Speed Rivals required the same. The reasons given by EA at the time were ambiguous in a "wait and see" type of way. Well, today, we found out exactly why. In the latest issue of OXM, Executive Producer Marcus Nilsson explained how the game's new photo sharing system will translate to in game currency. It's an automatic system that will take pictures of certain in game moments and send them out to the Need for Speed Network. He stated that "We also have a new snapshot system as well," adds Nilsson. "Which is taking pictures of a lot of different moments – [they go] out to the Need for Speed network where people can ‘like’ them, and those likes are being pushed back into the game as currency. So you get progression from sharing your photos. The Xbox One has really good built-in systems to make videos and stream them, which we are also going to use."

This is definitely intriguing and new ground to take up by Ghost Games, but care will need to be taken to ensure players can't bot their way to likes in order to increase their in game currency. Need for Speed releases on Xbox One this November
