Netflix renews Marvel’s Jessica Jones for a second season

A new threat is on the horizon

Netflix confirmed yesterday that Marvel's Jessica Jones will be returning for a second season. We kind of figured this to be the case given the overwhelming positive reception, but now it's official.

“Marvel is thrilled to be working with NETFLIX for a second season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” said Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb. “The positive response to Jessica’s story from fans all over the world has been overwhelming and we look forward to diving even deeper into these characters and this world."

The critically-acclaimed first season of Marvel's Jessica Jones earned star Krysten Ritter a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Actress in a Drama Series. A follow-up to Netflix's first original series, Marvel's Daredevil, Jessica Jones uses her gifts as a private eye to find her tormentor before he can harm anyone else in Hell's Kitchen.

Speaking of Marvel's Daredevil, the second season is set to debut on Netflix on March 18, 2016. Making his debut during season two of Marvel's Daredevil is Punisher, played by The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal. Apparently, Bernthal's take on the character is so impressive that Netflix is considering a Punisher spinoff series.
