Neverwinter MMO grows to 2 million players

Neverwinter, the free-to-play massively multiplayer role-playing game that launched in June, has passed 2 million players.

The Dungeons & Dragons-based game officially released after an open-beta period in late April and a closed beta that started in early February. Developer Cryptic Studios is planning a free content expansion called Fury of the Feywild, which arrives on August 22. It introduces an update to the Foundry Editor and allows players to upgrade their companions by paying with Astral Diamonds, a form of in-game currency.

New adventurer packs will be available for $60 and $20.
