There is a growing trend among gamers that is seeing a greater number of them playing games for their story. As games have grown more complex, so too has their capacity for expanding on the worlds that they let us explore. Guerrilla Games is tapping into that trend with their narratively-focused Action-RPG, Horizon: Zero Dawn as their latest patch, 1.32 has introduced "Story Difficulty," which lowers the burden of the moment-to-moment action. The mode was unveiled in a new trailer on the PlayStation Blog (embedded above).
According to the blog post, the "Story Difficulty" reduces the amount of damage taken from enemies, while boosting that which the player dishes out. AI and pathfinding all remain the same, so it's little more than tinkering with the player stats.
Conversely, Horizon: Zero Dawn had previously released an "Ultra Hard" difficulty for more hardcore players, so now the game can appeal to players far and wide.
Horizon: Zero Dawn originally released back on February 28th to the tune of an average Metacritic score of 89. The game is undoubtedly in the running for Game of the Year and is quite a visual spectacle that shows off the power of the PS4 Pro.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is available now exclusively for PlayStation 4.
