New LEGO The Lord of the Rings dev diary looks at rebuilding Middle-earth brick by brick

Recreating J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-Earth is a challenge regardless of the medium, but imagine being tasked with having to recreate it in blocky, LEGO form. That's exactly the challenge TT Games has taken up with LEGO The Lord of the Rings, an upcoming LEGO adventure game that takes players to the heart of Middle-earth on a journey to destroy the one ring.

To give you a better idea with the challenge their facing, TT Games has released a new developer diary documenting the development of LEGO The Lord of the Rings, perhaps one of the most cinematic video games they have created to date.

Maintaining the same great, memorable characters and locations that have already been established by the books and motion pictures is no easy task, but as you'll see in the video, TT Games has done a marvelous job rebuilding the massive scale of the Fellowship's journey.

This is the first in a series of developer diaries that will be released as we near the release of LEGO Lord of the Rings this Fall for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Nintendo DS and 3DS, PS Vita, and PC.
